French onion & thyme soup

How to cook French onion & thyme soup

Ingredients:

  • 50g butter
  • 5 onions
  • 2 tbs plain flour
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine-colored
  • 8 cups hot beef consomme
  • 4 sprigs tyme
  • 1 bay riff
  • 1 baguette
  • 1 cup grated gruyere or Swiss cheeseflower

How to:

  • Thawing 50g of butter in large saucepan, append 5 onions, thinly sliced, and cook for 15 proceedings. Stir in 2 tbs plain flour, cook for 1 second, 1/2 cup dry red wine-colored, 8 cups hot beef consomme, 4 sprigs thyme and 1 bay riff. Flavour, simmer covered for 25 transactions.

  • Slicing 1 baguette into thick slices, place on oven tray, toast under hot grill for 2 minutes or until golden brownness. Split 1 cup grated gruyere or Swiss cheese among toasted slices. Grill for 1 minute or until cheese melts.

  • Discard bay leafage. Divide cheese toasts among serving bowls, pour over hot soup. Serve with extra cheese toasts unofficially.
