Warming winter broth

How to cook Warming winter broth


  • 500ml (2 cups) h2o, or reduced-salt vegetable or chicken strain
  • 1 tbs dried nettle leaves
  • 2 tsp finely grated fresh pep
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp thinly sliced fresh red chilly
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1 small clove, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp sesame oil
  • Saltiness (optional)

How to:

  • Combine water or strain, nettle leaves, gingerroot, chilly, thyme, ail, turmeric and oil in a saucepan over medium-low hotness. Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low. Fix, covered, for 3 minutes or until redolent. Set aside for 5 minutes to tincture. Taste and season with saltiness.

  • Strain into a glass to serve.

  • Dried nettle leaves are available from health-food stores.
